Building on the requirements and concepts developed so far, we are making great strides at BIBA towards testing these approaches. In order to present the ideas developed, we have created a complex demonstrator, which can be viewed at our premises from today.
The demonstrator consists of eight places in which individual modules can be installed by means of a simple plug-in mechanism. The modules are installed completely without tools and require only minimal effort. A secure locking mechanism physically fixes the modules in place. The electrical supply and communication link is coupled during installation, allowing the module to start directly. Indicators on the front inform about the power supply as well as the status of the module. Finally, the module is automatically registered in the overall system.
With the demonstrator that has now been created, we can analyse and further develop both the module change, the recognition of new modules and their properties as well as the general behaviour of modular and dynamic systems. In addition, we would like to expand the system with further assembly capabilities and test the system behaviour in different situations.
